It happens quickly. Last week we were discussing how the leaves were starting to change and how it would soon be beautiful. We had some cold and rainy weather over the weekend and now it’s almost all gone. The fall foliage experts would consider our current state as “past prime.” If you blink you might miss the splendor. It’s okay because my favorite phase is the late brown phase. It lasts a little bit longer than the bright and shiny yellow phase. I love the dark oranges, russet browns, and that rare deep purple that looks almost like chocolate. This is my favorite time of year but it’s over too soon. I guess it’s a great reminder to enjoy the moment. Don’t blink or you will miss the splendor… and all you will have left is the crunchy, dried up remains.
