Kissing Tree

Scratch in the dirt and plant a kiss
Dig a hole for someone we’ll miss
Plant a kiss, with a rusty hoe
Mound the ground and let it go

Meet me at the kissing tree
Just the birds and you and me
The bees buzz their weary song
The fence post shadows growing long
Quiet now, just hold my hand
May the kissing tree forever stand

Plant a kiss deep in the ground
Join hands, ring ‘round and ‘round
Ashes, ashes, all fall down
Wear that kiss and a willow crown
Meet me at the kissing tree
Just the birds and you and me
The bees buzz their weary song
The fence post shadows growing long
Quiet now, just hold my hand
May the kissing tree forever stand

On top of the hill, be sure to meet me
Plant a kiss, we’ll plant a tree
Dry bones to that graveyard
Scratch in the dirt and plant a kiss hard

Meet me at the kissing tree
Just the birds and you and me
The bees buzz their weary song
The fence post shadows growing long
Quiet now, just hold my hand
May the kissing tree forever stand
