I recently acquired a new guitar. This meant that I had to try out my songs on the new instrument. A different tone can change the entire complexion of a song. I’ve found a handful of songs that don’t work well on this guitar but most of my tunes sound good. Something almost mystical happened when I played “Statue of Liberty.” The tempo, style, and entire vibe changed dramatically. I didn’t do it on purpose. It’s just how the song came out of the guitar. I have a finished recording of this song for the next record. But I like the way it sounds with the new guitar so much better. I’m going to have to record a new version of the song and then decide which one should be on the album. It’s going to be hard to get the record finished if I am moving backward and starting over.
